Genan Granted EPD For Rubber Asphalt Product

Genan has announced that its Genan Road+ Premixed product now has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

Genan Road+Premixed, is a high-performance, single-component rubber modifier for asphalt and bitumen in road construction consisting of a premixed combination of high-quality recycled rubber powder from end-of-life tires and Vestenamer®, a polymer from specialty chemical company Evonik. This mixture creates a durable, more flexible asphalt that resists rutting and cracking, simplifying the production process and enhancing road longevity

An EPD is an independently verified and registered document that communicates transparent and comparable data about the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle.

They are important because they enable businesses and consumers to make informed decisions, allow for objective comparison of products, and support sustainability goals by providing credible data on a product’s resource use, emissions, and waste.

“We work continuously to develop high-performance products with a minimal footprint – and this EPD is another step forward in proving just that,” Genan said in its announcement.

“The EPD is more than a document – it is a practical tool to make lower-impact road construction easier to specify, evaluate and deliver.”

For road projects, Genan said an EPD gives consulting engineers transparent, third-party verified data that fits straight into sustainability assessments and bid material.

Contractors and asphalt producers can document the environmental performance of their mix and strengthen it when projects come with climate or circularity requirements.

For public authorities and road owners, it provides assurance of documented CO2 performance and responsible use of end-of-life tires.
