Tiger Infrastructure Partners Invests in Bolder Industries

Capital infusion will be used to build new facilities

Tiger Infrastructure Partners has made a significant growth investment in Colorado-based Bolder Industries, a recognized pioneer in the circular economy focused on converting end-of-life tires into desirable carbon black alternatives and petrochemicals. The investment provides growth capital to support the buildout of new production facilities.

Bolder Industries operates a facility in Maryville, Missouri that has successfully implemented a proprietary process to transform end-of-life tires into recovered carbon black. This key raw material is used in tire production and in the rubber and plastics sectors, fields that are witnessing an ever-increasing demand. Bolder’s flagship product,  BolderBlack, is now utilized by numerous leading brands, including tires, roofing products, wetsuits, construction piping, belts, hoses, phone cases and auto parts.

The company also produces BolderOil, a versatile pyrolysis oil used across various sectors such as renewable fuels and petrochemicals.

“As an innovator in the production of recovered carbon black and pyrolysis oil, we believe that Bolder is in a prime position to capitalize on growing demand for validated, cost-effective circular economy products from end-of-life,” Emil W. Henry, Jr., Tiger Infrastructure CEO & CIO, said.

Currently, Bolder is constructing a second facility aimed at scaling production, in Terre Haute, Indiana, and has a third facility under development in Antwerp, Belgium.  The company’s Belgium facility will be located in the NextGen District of the Port of Antwerp, which hosts other circular economy projects.

“We have been impressed by Tony Wibbeler, Bolder’s Founder and CEO, and his team,” Joe Clemente, Tiger Infrastructure Managing Director, said, calling them “leaders in this emerging sector.”

With offices in New York and London, Tiger has a valuable operating partner network and transatlantic footprint that can help Bolder grow its current and planned facilities in the US and Europe.

Wibbeler said Tiger Infrastructure is “our partner of choice because they were a first mover in growth infrastructure and possess a successful track record in scaling infrastructure platforms like ours.”

Bolder has secured feedstock supply and product offtake at both of its new facilities. Each new location is designed to recycle more than four million end-of-life tires annually.
