Ecolomondo Reports On Hawkesbury Construction
A turnkey Thermal Decomposition (TDP) plant, being built in Hawkesbury, Ontario, is progressing on time and on budget, facility developer and owner Ecolomondo Corporation said.
Foundations and the steel structure of the building have been completed with work on the exterior walls now underway, Ecolomondo said in a March 9 press release.
Equipment requiring a long lead time is currently being manufactured, including shredding and crumb rubber lines, a recovered carbon black processing line as well as flare, reactors, scrubbers and oil distillation.
Ecolomondo expects delivery of equipment to begin by the end of April 2020. Commissioning is still projected to begin in the third quarter of 2020 with initial operations scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020, the company said.
Ecolomondo estimates that direct costs to build the Hawkesbury TDP turnkey facility, including all equipment, land, building and soft costs, will be approximately $37.6 million, of which approximately $32.1 million is expected to come from the proceeds of the project financing loan from Export Development Canada. Ecolomondo reports it has already contributed the balance of approximately $5.5 million.
Once built and fully operational, the Hawkesbury TDP turnkey facility will have capacity to process 14,000 tons of tire waste per year and to produce 5,300 tons of recycled carbon black, 42,700 barrels of oil, 1,800 tons of steel and 1,600 tons of process gas.
The Hawkesbury TDP turnkey facility is comprised of different departments: shredding, thermal process, recovered carbon black processing, oil distillation and is thought to be the first of its kind, Ecolomondo said.
