CourseGrip™ Golf Mat

Prism Worldwide is introducing its CourseGrip™ anti-slip trail and golf path mat at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Show being held this month in Orlando, Florida.

Made in the U.S with 30 percent plus end-of-life tire rubber the mats enhance sustainability at golf courses and provide a cost benefit compared to virgin material options, the company said

Designed for golf cart paths and personal use to prevent slipping on wet turf or mud, CourseGrip™ features a grip system with nibs on the bottom which provide a firm grip on bridges, paths, and trails, and keep the mat from moving in place.

Engineered to perform in all weather conditions, the mats are water and crack-resistant, won’t curl or harden in sub-zero weather and have UV protection for harsh sun and weather conditions.

Prism, a Kirkland, Washington-based clean technology company, converts end-of-life tires (ELTs) and waste materials into high-quality, sustainable polymers for industrial use.

Prism’s core technology involves converting 100 percent of recycled tire crumb rubber into functional thermoplastic intermediates.

To unlock this potential, end-of-life tire rubber needs to be transformed back into functional polymers suitable for tire-to-tire applications, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), thermoplastic olefins (TPO), automobile interiors, and various consumer products.

Also, these polymers need to offer a cost advantage, that’s less expensive than virgin polymers for manufacturers.

“At Prism, we have achieved this goal,” CEO Bob Abromovitz said. “We can now devulcanize end-of-life tire rubber into various grades for creating new polymers in the TPE, TPO, and modified olefin markets.”

In tire-to-tire applications, Prism’s material is functional, allowing tire manufacturers to incorporate significant amounts into tread or sidewall formulas without adversely affecting material properties, he said.

Additionally, Prism has developed a patent-pending process for odor removal from end-of-life tire rubber, enabling manufacturers to produce interior materials for vehicles and homes without the unpleasant smell typically associated with crumb rubber products.

With the launch of the CourseGrip™ mat Prism is expanding its collaborative work with product manufacturers to more effectively leverage this valuable recycled rubber feedstock, marketed under Prism’s Ancora™ and Ennova™ brands.
